# Increase your newsletter audience using the iContact welcome campaign with a discount code

Firstly, create an automation in Personal Discount. Navigate to the **Shopify admin panel** > **Apps** > **Personal Discount** > **Add automation**. Then, select **iContact** as your Email Service Provider and **Welcome new subscribers** as the campaign type.

Now you need to specify your discount details. Set the code pattern, the value, the expiration date, etc. For more information, see the article on [how to configure discount](https://docs.personaldiscount.io/personal-discount-for-shopify/configure-discount).&#x20;

When you set your automation details, **Save** them and copy the code snippet to the clipboard.

That's all you need to prepare in your Shopify dashboard. Now switch over to your iContact admin panel. Firstly, create your welcome email message. You can use one of the templates, build your message from scratch or use the HTML editor.&#x20;

Let's add your Personal Discount code snippet to your email template. Drag and drop an **HTML element**, and paste the code snippet. Then hit **Preview changes** > **Apply changes**.

When you've finished your template, click on **Save and Exit**.

The next step is creating an iContact welcome automation. Navigate to the **Automation** from the left-hand sidebar > **Create an automation**. Then type the name of your automation. Select **Subscribe Event** as the trigger and hit **Continue**.

Now set the automation trigger. Select your **Shopify audience** and decide, if you want to include existing subscribers. Then, hit **Save**.

Add the action that will be performed when a customer enters the automation. Click on the **plus sign** and **Add an action**. Then pick the **Send message** option and **Select** your email template.

Finally, you can Activate your automation.&#x20;

From now, when someone subscribes to your newsletter, they will receive a welcome message with a discount code.&#x20;
